Ilda Amani Dorcas of Bukavu, South Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo is an alumna of Multitech Business School and the International University of East Africa, which are both in Kampala, Uganda. In 2017, she made her runway debut in Kampala.
On August 29, 2024, Amani competed against 20 other Miss Universe DR Congo 2024 candidates at the Pullman Grand Hotel in Kinshasa, DR Congo and won the title. On May 15, 2025, she turned 27.
On August 22, 2025, Amani crowned her successor Déborah Djema at the Centre Culturel et Artistique de Kinshasa in Kinshasa. On November 21, 2025, the latter will represent the DR Congo at Miss Universe 2025 at the Impact Challenger Hall in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand.

On August 4, 2025, Virginie Tshausiku Mariette Philippot withdrew from the Miss Universe DR Congo 2025 competition. In a statement, she explained that her decision was out of self-respect not weakness.
