In 2005, Murdoch graduated from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. From 2005 to 2008, he completed his family medicine residency at the same school.

In 2008, Murdoch obtained his medical license in Michigan, which will expire in 2027. In 2012, he was an American Academy of Family Physicians fellow.

In June 2025, Murdoch started chatting online with an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detective of the police department of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, USA. The doctor believed he was communicating with a mother with a 5-year-old child.

Murdoch pursued a platonic relationship with the fictitious mother to see if she would allow her child to be courted by him and have a sexual relationship with him. He gave details about his plan to groom the child.

When Murdoch exchanged messages with the undercover detective, the doctor talked about conception, full-term abortions, intentional drug and alcohol use to cause birth defects. A warrant was issued for the doctor’s arrest for soliciting a parent to consent to the participation of sexual conduct involving a child.

On September 2, 2025, the Port St. Lucie Police Department announced that Murdoch was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Michigan. He will be extradited to Florida.
