Kristina Johnson graduated from the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) in San Diego, California, United States in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She was a Miss California USA 2009 candidate and a Miss California USA 2010 finalist.

From California, Johnson moved to Phoenix, Arizona, USA. On May 26, 2024, she represented Uptown Phoenix at Miss Arizona USA 2024, competed against 28 other candidates at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts in Gilbert, Arizona and won the title.

Runner-up to Johnson was Jordyn Owen of Catalina Foothills. The respective second, third and fourth runners-up were Kimberly Covert of Mesa, Khajal Ramey of Vail and Kesha Clark of South Scottsdale.

Miss Arizona USA 2025

On June 6, 2025, Johnson turned 42. On September 7, 2025, Johnson will crown her successor at Caesars Republic Scottsdale, a Hilton Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona, marking the 74th edition of the beauty pageant that selects the state’s candidate for Miss USA, which selects the Miss Universe candidate of the U.S.

Arizona has yet to win Miss USA. The state currently has 26 placements in the national beauty pageant.

The highest placements of Arizona in Miss USA were the first runner-up finishes of Jane Nelson in 1965 and Jineane Ford in 1980 and the most recent one was the Top 15 finish of Chelsea Myers in 2016.

On August 4, 2024, Johnson represented Arizona at Miss USA 2024 and competed against 50 other candidates at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, USA. She was unplaced.
