On October 11, 2024, a Falmouth Police Department officer visited Ian’s residence in Falmouth with an evaluation of a juvenile with homicidal thoughts and observed 3D wooden models including a model of a futuristic firearm in the teenager’s room. On October 29, 2024, the department received a call from the Hospital for Behavioral Medicine in Worcester, Massachusetts about the teenager, who had been making references to killing people and animals.
On August 28, 2025, the Falmouth Police Department was informed that Ian indicated he was a member of a white supremacy group during his time at an in-patient program for mental health at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Massachusetts. He allegedly indicated that he wanted to shoot up a school, which he did not specify.
At around 12:50 p.m. on September 3, 2025, Ian was seen walking in the woods behind the playground at Teaticket Elementary School in Falmouth during fourth grade recess. He held his phone close to his chest as though he was taking photos or videos of the area, Bob Roth, the school’s head of security, told Falmouth Police Department school resource officer Stephen Senior.
According to Falmouth Police Department chief Jeff Lourie and Cape and Islands District attorney Robert J. Galibois, Ian allegedly stated that he was refurbishing firearms in his room. On September 4, 2025, the department issued a no trespass order for all Falmouth Public Schools against the teenager and obtained a search warrant to his residence.
Police officers did not find illegal firearms when they searched Ian’s residence but they found a large 3D printer that is capable of making a firearm. When investigators searched his phone, they found photos of the shooting at Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado, USA on April 20, 1999 and a journal referencing the shooting.
On September 11, 2025, Ian was arrested. On September 12, 2025, he was charged with threatening to use a deadly weapon in a public building.
On September 16, 2025, Krysten Condon represented Ian in a dangerousness hearing at the Barnstable District Court before Judge Kristen A. Stone. The judge ruled to release the teenager from custody on a $2,500 bail.
Stone explained that the law does not allow her to hold without bail as a danger to the community. On October 6, 2025, Ian will attend another court hearing.
After posting bail, Ian was released and required to wear a global positioning system (GPS) device and continue receiving mental health care treatment. He is prohibited from leaving his residence in Falmouth unless it is for legal or medical purposes.
