Lewison has an extensive criminal history, going back to at least 1989. On multiple occasion, he was caught driving while intoxicated.

In April 2021, Lewison led police on a chase reaching more than 100 miles per hour. More than $129,000 in cash was found in the trunk of the vehicle he was driving.

In May 2021, Lewison smeared feces in a jail cell in Mower County and damaged outlets in the facility. He was charged with third-degree damage to property.

In July 2022, Lewison drove while intoxicated and fled a police officer and was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison and 5 years and 6 months of probation on the case. In February 2023, he was convicted of assault on a police officer.

While on probation, Lewison took to Facebook at 8:34 a.m. on September 18, 2025 to share a video of himself outside Byron High School in Byron, Olmsted County, Minnesota. In the video, he made threats toward attorneys, judges, current and former public officials and current and former law enforcement officers in Dodge County, Minnesota.

The people Lewison mentioned in the video were contacted and made aware of the situation. Most of them had some level of contact with him in his run-ins with law enforcement and the justice system, according to Olmsted County sheriff Kevin Torgeson.

Hours after the video was posted, Lewison was found in Chickasaw County, Iowa, USA. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office asked his probation officer with the Minnesota Department of Corrections to place the Rose Creek man in custody for violating probation and leaving Minnesota but the department denied the request.

At 6:03 p.m., Lewison arrested by Dodge County Sheriff’s Office deputies with the help of officers from the police department of West Concord, Dodge County. They have yet to announce which charges he was arrested on.
