Angelo Garcia, 38, of Little Havana, Miami, Florida, United States allegedly shot a woman, 75, her son, 53, and another man, 26. The suspect and the victims are neighbors.
On October 23, 2025, the woman celebrated her 75th birthday at her residence in Little Havana. The two other victims were present during the celebration.
At around 1:00 a.m. on October 24, 2025, Garcia went to the woman’s residence and asked one of the victims where a friend who had offended him a week ago was. The victim said the friend was in Cuba.
As shown by surveillance video, Garcia talked to the three victims in the front yard of the birthday celebrant, fired at them and fled the scene. Miami Fire Rescue personnel took the victims to the Ryder Trauma Center of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
Both the woman and the older man are in serious but stable condition. The younger man is in serious condition.
On October 25, 2025, a special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team brought by the Miami Police Department stormed inside The Comfort Suites Miami-Kendall in Miami to arrest Garcia. Before 1:35 p.m., he was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami.
The Miami Police Department worked with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service to apprehend Garcia. He was charged with displaying a firearm while committing a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful discharge of a firearm in a residential property and four counts of second-degree attempted murder or aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Little Havana
Named after Havana, Cuba, Little Havana is home to Cuban exiles and immigrants from Central America and South America. The neighborhood has been celebrating the Calle Ocho Music Festival every March since 1978.
In 2015, the National Trust for Historic Preservation included Little Havana in its annual list of 11 most endangered places. In 2017, the trust declared the neighborhood a national treasure.
