Jahari Justin Stegall of Euclid, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States has died. He was 17.

Stegall is Connie Harris‘s son. He attended Frederick Douglass High School in Euclid.
Accused of killing Stegall, Royal King, 17, has been arrested by Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), which was led by the U.S. Marshals Service. In 2003, the tasked force was created by Peter J. Elliott, who was appointed by 43rd U.S. president George W. Bush as U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio and subsequently retained by the country’s next presidents Barrack Obama, Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
“This was a heinous and brazen crime committed in the middle of the day by a suspect who has no regard for the life and safety of others,” Elliott stated after the arrest of King. “We are relieved he is off the streets before more violence was brought to the city of Cleveland by his hands.”

On September 19, 2025, Stegall was shot at a convenient store in the 800 block of East 185th Street in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County allegedly by King. Cleveland Police Department officers responded to a call for the shooting and found the victim with a gunshot wound to his head.
Security camera recorded what appears to be King waiting in the store for Stegall to arrive. After the shooting, the gunman left in a stolen vehicle that was later recovered by police.
Since warrants were issued for the arrest of King, members of the NOVFTF has been looking for him. On October 29, 2025, the task force gathered information that the teenager may be staying in the area of East 147th Street in Cleveland.
Later that day, the NOVFTF located King in a residence in the 3500 block of East 147th Street. The task force arrested the teenager without incident and recovered a loaded rifle in what is believed to be his bedroom.
The NOVFTF also found Anthony Phelps, 36, and arrested him without incident. He was wanted by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for various parole violations.
King will be arraigned at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court in Cleveland. He will be admitted to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center in Cleveland.
