Two teenagers were recently arrested in Memphis, Tennessee, United States by the Memphis Safe Task Force. With a mission to make the city safe, the task force is an interagency coalition of federal, state and local law enforcement partners announced by 47th U.S. president Donald Trump on September 12, 2025.
Martravius Vinson
At around 12:00 p.m. on November 4, 2025, the Memphis Safe Task Force received the warrant for the arrest of Martravius Vinson, 19, who was wanted for second-degree murder. Members of the task force executed the arrest warrant with the help of the Special Operations Group (SOG), a specially trained, rapidly deployable law enforcement element of the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS).
At around 1:00 p.m., Vinson was arrested by the task force in the 4000 block of Shadcrest Road in Memphis. After his arrest, USMS director Gadyaces S. Serralta stated, “It is the mission of the Memphis Safe Task Force to ensure the safety of the Memphis community, and that is what we do by apprehending individuals like this so they can answer to the charges against them.”
Demarius Chalmers
Since March 13, 2025, Demarius Chalmers, 19, has been wanted for reckless murder. He is a member of the Crips, an alliance of street gangs founded in Los Angeles, California, USA in 1969.
Chalmers is accused of pulling his gun and having an accidental discharge at a house party. The bullet hit a woman, who died in the kitchen of the house.
Authorities did not release the date, time and location of the accident. The name and age of the victim were also not revealed.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Chalmers. The warrant was received by the Memphis Safe Task Force.
At around 5:45 a.m. on November 7, 2025, members of the Memphis Safe Task Force executed the warrant resulting in the apprehension of Chalmers. He was taken into custody in the 2800 block of Vayu Drive in Memphis.
