Gabriel Borders, 47, Carlos Johnson, 26, and Samuel Floyd, 18, have been arrested. They are all residents of Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, United States.
In September 2025, the Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) was launched to combat violent crime in Memphis. It is focused on arresting violent criminals, clearing warrants, seizing firearms and locating missing children.
Gabriel Borders
On February 4, 2022, Roger Crigler Jr., 17, and another juvenile allegedly tried to steal Borders’ 2003 Chevy Tahoe on Mason Street in Memphis. Borders came out of a nearby townhome, which was leased by his girlfriend, and used an AK style rifle to shoot Crigler.
After shooting Crigler, who was taken to the hospital where he died, Borders did not call the police. On February 9, 2022, the gunman was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
A report on June 12, 2025 stated that Borders was wanted in Shelby County for vandalism and aggravated assault. On October 9, 2025, he turned 47.
At around 3:15 p.m. on December 3, 2025, MSTF officers arrested Borders during a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Memphis. They found opioids, marijuana and a stolen handgun in his car.
Carlos Johnson
On January 31, 2025, Johnson allegedly shot into a vehicle operated by his former girlfriend in the 3700 block of Wolf Trail Drive in Memphis. A warrant for his arrest was issued and he was charged with aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
At around 12:10 p.m. on December 3, 2025, MSTF members arrested Johnson at an apartment complex in the 7800 block of Highway 51 North in Millington, Shelby County. They served a search warrant at his residence and recovered two firearms.
Samuel Floyd
Shortly after 2:00 p.m. on December 4, 2025, Floyd allegedly stole a 9mm handgun from a male customer at a tire stop on Frayser Boulevard in Memphis, pointed the firearm at the man, threatened to shoot him and exited the building. The victim called the police and provided a description of the suspect.
When MSTF members approached Floyd around 9 minutes later, he ran and threw the stolen handgun. At around 2:15 p.m., they caught and arrested him in the 3300 block of Aden Street in Memphis and recovered the handgun.
Floyd was transported to the Austin Peay Station of the Memphis Police Department for further investigation. He was charged with theft of property, robbery, aggravated assault and evading arrest.
