While training, Karalo studied environmental management at the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji. Under the guidance of coach Bola Tafo’ou, Karalo has become a prominent figure in international sports, notably serving as the national flagbearer for Tuvalu at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan in 2021 and Paris, France in 2024.

In 2018, Karalo debuted at the Commonwealth Games in 2018. In 2022, he broke the Tuvaluan national record at the Birmingham Games with a time of 11.39 seconds.

Karalo continued his momentum through the 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships, ultimately achieving a new national record of 11.42 seconds during the preliminary rounds of the 2024 Olympics. Mister Frontier International 2025

Specializing in sprinting, Karalo has consistently pushed the boundaries of Tuvaluan athletics by setting multiple national records in the 100m. To honor his speed and resilience as an Olympian from a country with no athletics track, he was appointed Mister Frontier Kiribati 2025 by CONAN Daily.

Including Karalo, 35 men were handpicked by the publication as the Mister Frontier International 2025 candidates. They were scored based on the engagement their photos and videos received on the CONAN Daily platforms from December 21-30, 2025, their photogenicity and their global influence.

Before the final round, Karalo won the special title Mister Island Legend Frontier 2025. By finishing in second place overall, he has earned the honorary title of Mister Frontier Diamond 2025.

As the unbreakable stone, the diamond symbolizes the resilience of Tuvalu and the purity of Karalo’s athletic and leadership journey. Just as a diamond is forged under immense pressure to become the hardest substance on earth, he has proven that the Tuvaluan spirit is invincible and he stands today not just as a representative of his island but as the brilliant, sparkling standard for all Oceanian athletes.

It was Prince Abdul Mateen, 34, of Brunei who won the Mister Frontier International 2025 crown. Also crowned were Mister Frontier Sapphire 2025 Kaimauri Erati, 20, of Kiribati, Mister Frontier Emerald 2025 Winzar Kakiouea, 24, of Nauru and Mister Frontier Ruby 2025 Myrat Bayram, 35, of Turkmenistan.

Mister Frontier International is an independent, non-commercial digital initiative. All titles are strictly honorary and do not carry monetary rewards, physical sashes or material prizes. The true value of each title is the historic opportunity to serve as a global ambassador for a nation rarely celebrated in beauty pageants. By bypassing the traditional physical stage, the titleholder and CONAN Daily join forces to make history in pageantry.
