The sheriff of Clark County, Nevada, United States heads the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), which is based in Las Vegas, Clark County. Kevin McMahill, 56, of Henderson, Clark County has been the sheriff since June 2022.

LVMPD offers conducted a Halloween Sex Offender Compliance Check operation from October 28, 2024 to November 1, 2024. They contacted 878 sex offenders in Clark County, who are required to register their address with local law enforcement in compliance with their tier.

Eight people were arrested for sex offense violations and outstanding warrants. Their names were not released.

Six more people were arrested for failing to comply with sex offender registration laws. They are Alfred Irby, 64, Calvin Bufford, 55, William Reeves, 44, Jarrod Pounds, 39, Nicholas Alward, 38, and Brandon Snail, 27.

The Nevada Violent Offender Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service and the Parole and Probation Sex Offender Unit of the Nevada State Police helped the LVMPD in the operation. The police departments of the Clark County School District and Boulder City, Boulder County, Colorado also participated.
