Why was Jason Childers arrested?
Childers is accused of inappropriately touching seven of his female students who are between 12 and 14 years old. On November 1, 2024, the first student said he touched her back and slid his hand down her backside until he made contact with her buttock.
Also that day, the second student said Childers rubbed and toucher her back on shoulders on different occasions. According to her, he grabbed her by the arm and forcibly escorted her into the hallway while obeying an instruction from him to exit the classroom on one occasion.
On November 4, 2024, the third student said that Childers grabbed her thigh while taking her cell phone from her lap and after he took her phone, he continued to grab her inner thigh area. He would routinely rub her and other female students’ backs and arms, she added.
On November 5, 2024, the fourth student said Childers glided his hand up and down her back and shoulders without her consent while in his class. That day, the fifth student said while she was walking down a hallway at school, he wrapped his arms around her waist without her consent.
On November 6, 2024, the sixth student said Childers grabbed her around her waist without her consent and pushed her toward one side of the hallway. He said his hands upwards just below her breast while his hands were around her waist, she said.
On November 14, 2024, the seventh student said Childers touched her buttock with his hand before her 13th birthday. During a traffic stop on November 18, 2024, he was caught with a marijuana cigarette.
That day, Childers was arrested and charged with simple possession of schedule 6 narcotics and tampering with evidence. He was also charged with aggravated sexual battery, two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and four counts of simple assault.
