Sara Jean Sellers, 44, is one of the current residents of Shallotte, Brunswick County, North Carolina, United States, which was incorporated as a town in 1899. A former Hardee’s restaurant in the town was used as a filming location for a robbery scene in the road comedy film “Tammy“, which starred Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates and Sandra Oh and hit theaters on July 2, 2014.

Sellers got married in 2002. She has two daughters.

From 2018 to 2019, Sellers allegedly sexually abused two boys. Both alleged victims were 12 years old at the time.

On the morning of February 14, 2025, Sellers was arrested and booked into the Brunswick County Detention Center in Bolivia, Brunswick County. She was charged with 10 counts each of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and statutory rape of a child by adult and 20 counts each of statutory rape of a child under the age of 15, indecent liberties with a child and statutory sex offense with a child under 15.

Shortly after Sellers’ arrest, she appeared in court. According to prosecutors, two other boys are being interviewed in connection to her alleged crimes.

A judge set bond for Sellers at $2 million. Prior to this, her defense attorney requested a $400,000 secured bond.
