Davao City is the only independent city in the Davao Region of the Philippines. The city is home to the Tebow CURE Hospital, which was established in 2014 through a partnership with the Tim Tebow Foundation.

The Davao Region has five provinces namely Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental and Davao Oriental. Davao City is geographically located in Davao del Sur but is independent from the province.
On May 2, 2025, Angeleyh Pasco represented the Davao Region and the Filipino community of Hawaii, United States at Miss Universe Philippines 2025 and competed against 65 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. She finished in the Top 24.
