Dr. Neha Gupta, 36, of Edmond, Oklahoma, United States is the former wife Dr. Saurabh Talathi, 37, of Edmond. In April 2021, she gave birth to their daughter Aria Talathi.
A custody battle followed after Saurabh and Gupta finalized their divorce in 2024. He requested that she undergo psychiatric evaluations.

Gupta is a pediatrician who practiced medicine at the University of Oklahoma (OU) Health in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On May 30, 2025, she was terminated from her position.
According to Gupta, she and Aria enjoyed dinner around 9:00 p.m. on June 26, 2025. The mother said she and her daughter went to sleep in the same bed in the master bedroom of the rental home in El Portal, Florida, USA at around 12:30 a.m. on June 27, 2025.
Gupta told police that Aria drowned. The mother claimed that at 3:30 a.m., she was awoken by an unidentified noise and found her daughter unresponsive in the backyard pool of the rental house.
Aria was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, Florida where she was pronounced dead at 4:28 a.m. Doctors examined her found cuts and bruising inside her mouth.
On June 29, 2025, an autopsy was performed. The medical examiner found no water in Aria’s lungs, which ruled out drowning.
Aria’s stomach was also empty, which contradicted Gupta’s claim that they had dinner before her daughter’s death. The girl was smothered to death and her body was placed in the pool allegedly by her mother based on the autopsy findings, surveillance video and inconsistencies in the mother’s version of events.
On July 1, 2025, Gupta was arrested in Oklahoma City by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Oklahoma City Police Department. She was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center in Oklahoma City.
Currently, Gupta is being held without bond. Represented by Richard Cooper, she will be extradited to Florida to face one count of first-degree murder.
