Tamura was an American private investigator with a documented history of mental health issues. He spent the last minutes of his life opening fire inside a building in New York City, New York, USA, which houses the National Football League headquarters and other major corporate offices.

  • On June 14, 2022, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department issued his concealed firearms permit.
  • In September 2023, he was arrested by LVMPD officers on suspicion of trespassing at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas.
  •  In November 2023, the charge filed against him in September 2023 was dropped after the Clark County District Attorney declined to file a complaint.
  • On January 19, 2025, he turned 27.
  • On July 26, 2025, he left his residence in Las Vegas, drove his black BMW to New York City and traveled through Colorado, USA.
  • On July 27, 2025, traveled through Nebraska, USA; Iowa, USA and Columbia, New Jersey, USA.
  • On July 28, 2025, he arrived in Manhattan. At around 6:30 p.m., he used an AR-15-style rifle to open fire inside 345 Park Avenue in Manhattan, killing Aland Etienne, Didarul Islam, Julia Hyman and Wesley LePatner. After the mass shooting, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
