Matilda Wirtavuori was born and raised in Tampere, Finland. From 2016 to 2019, she attended Tampereen Lyseon Lukio in Tampere.
From 2019 to 2022, Wirtavuori attended Tampere University in Tampere where she earned her bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration. On August 7, 2021, she was crowned Miss Tampere 2021 at Periscope in Tampere.
On September 14, 2024, Wirtavuori competed against nine other Miss Suomi 2024 candidates at the Aino Arena in Järvenpää, Uusimaa, Finland and won the title. Runner-up to Wirtavuori was Tiia Aalto, who was crowned Miss International Finland 2024, and Amanda Hakalax was the second runner-up.
Miss Suomi 2025
On September 6, 2025, Wirtavuori will crown her successor at Hybridiarena Hype in Espoo, Finland. It is the 94th edition of the national beauty pageant that selects the country’s Miss Universe candidate.
Currently, Finland has 19 Miss Universe placements including the coronations of Armi Kuusela in 1952 and Anne Marie Pohtamo in 1975. The most recent one was achieved by Wirtavuori.

Finland currently has 30 Miss International placements including the coronation of Anneli Björkling in 1973. The most recent one was in 2022 when Anna Merimaa finished in the Top 15.
On November 12, 2024, Aalto represented Finland at Miss International 2024 and competed against 70 other candidates at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan. She was unplaced.
On November 16, 2024, Wirtavuori represented Finland at Miss Universe 2024 and competed against 124 other candidates at the Arena Ciudad de México (Arena CDMX) in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, Mexico. She finished in the Top 30 and was crowned Miss Universe Europe and Middle East 2024.
