Timothy D. Clark, 38, of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, United States is in jail. He is accused of trying to meet an underage girl to engage in sexual intercourse with her.

Aside from Poughkeepsie, Clark has lived in other parts of New York including Arlington. He is also a former resident of Salem, Virginia, USA.
Clark allegedly communicated online with someone he thought was an underage girl. Unbeknownst to him, he was actually communicating with an undercover agent who used chatrooms and accounts posing as underage females in order to make contact with predators.
On September 12, 2025, Clark traveled from Poughkeepsie to Groton, New London County, Connecticut, USA to meet who he thought was an underage girl. At around 5:00 p.m., he was arrested by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Groton Police Department in a joint operation with investigators from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).
After being processed at the headquarters of the Groton Police Department, Clark was held on a $250,000 court-set cash or surety bond. His arrest was part of a joint undercover law enforcement operation targeting child sex predators.
On September 15, 2025, Clark was arraigned at G.A. 10 in New London, New London County. He was charged with criminal attempt to commit sexual assault in the second degree, criminal attempt to commit injury or risk of injury to, or impairing morals of children, enticing a minor and harmful communication with a minor.

Naval Submarine Base New London, the East Coast submarine base of the U.S. Navy, is located in Groton. The town is also home to the General Dynamics Corporation subsidiary General Dynamics Electric Boat.
Rachael Franco was a councilor in Groton from 2017 to 2023. She has been the mayor of the town since 2023.
