Iryna Zarutska (Ірина Заруцька), a native of Kyiv, Ukraine, was killed in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States on August 22, 2025. She was 23.
Charles James “Charlie” Kirk, a native of Arlington Heights, Illinois, USA, was killed in Orem, Utah, USA on September 10, 2025. He was 31.
Steven Babice
Steven John Babice, 66, of Miramar, Florida, USA has been a registered voted since July 18, 1996. He is not affiliated to any political party.
Babice is a former resident of Trenton, New Jersey, USA. On July 1, 2004, he joined Everglades High School in Miramar as a social studies teacher.
“When an irresponsible whore learns that a baby’s life has as much value as hers then maybe she’d use her mouth instead of her polluted vagina. Ignorant,” Babice wrote on Facebook on May 17, 2019. He apologized afterwards and was allowed to continue teaching at Everglades High School.
On January 31, 2025, Babice turned 66. On September 11, 2025, he talked about Kirk during his class, which was recorded by a female student, 17.
“I grew up white,” Babice told his students. “Everyone I know was taught not to be racist. We’re all equal. That’s what we were taught. Then I become an adult and guess what I find out? Black people are taught to hate white people.”
“So who’s the racist?” Babice asked his students. “Why do Black people hate white people? Because cops are killing blacks. Is that what’s going on? Are more whites getting shot by cops than blacks? Somebody say yes because that’s a fact. How come there are parades, fires, murders and burning cities down all because George Floyd, a career criminal, died?”
“But when a white girl on a train gets stabbed in the neck, just whispers,” Babice added, apparently referring to Zarutska. “If that was a white guy killing a black girl, the world would be upside down, correct? So who’s the racist?”
The mother of the student who recorded Babice’s statements filed a complaint with Everglades High School and the Broward County Public Schools. The student told Miami New Times that in comments that were not caught on tape, the teacher also said Kirk had done more for black people than people like Barack Obama.
On September 26, 2025, Broward County Public Schools spokeswoman Keyla Concepción announced that Babice has been placed on administrative reassignment pending the outcome of an investigation. She did not release details about the reassignment.
