Andrew Shaffer, 19, is attending the University of Florida in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, United States. He is currently in jail.

On September 24, 2025, Shaffer allegedly encouraged a woman to consume a large amount of alcohol before bringing her to his dorm room at the University of Florida on-campus student housing Honors Village. He asked her if she wanted to have sex and she said no, according to her.
While the woman was sleeping, she was sexually assaulted allegedly by Shaffer. When she woke up, she was wearing his shirt.
Shaffer told the woman they had had sex, which she could not remember. He asked her if she was going to get the emergency contraception Plan B, which helps prevent pregnancy within 72 hours after unprotected sex.
Later, Shaffer and the woman exchanged messages on Snapchat. In his messages, he acknowledged that she said no when he asked her if she wanted to have sex and confirmed he was not wearing a condom at the time.
The woman provided the messages to investigators. She also gave them the receipt of a payment from Shaffer for Plan B.
When detectives interviewed Shaffer, he confirmed the Snapchat messages he sent to the woman. He admitted to having sex with her but claimed that it was consensual.
On October 6, 2025, Shaffer was booked into the Alachua County Jail in Gainesville on the charge of sexual battery. He has been trespassed from the University of Florida campus for three years.
