Deonte Wayne Gaskins, 30, of Anchorage, Alaska, United States is accused of fatally stabbing a woman. Details about her identity were not released.

Gaskins is an alumnus of Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School in Anchorage. On May 15, 2025, he turned 30.
On the evening of October 17, 2025, the Anchorage Police Department received a 911 call about an unconscious woman who had been stabbed in an apartment in the 2000 block of Fiddlehead Place in Anchorage. The caller is a family member of the woman.
According to the family member, they were on the phone with the woman less than an hour earlier and could hear Gaskins in the background. After failing to contact the woman again, the family member went to the apartment.
At around 6:51 p.m., officers responded to the apartment where they found an adult female with trauma to the upper body. Medics responded and transported her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
That evening, Gaskins was seen on video leaving the apartment. Later, he came back with his girlfriend while officers were there.
The girlfriend told detectives that before she and Gaskins came to the apartment, he had come home, immediately washed his clothes and took a shower. He told officers that he was at that apartment earlier and the woman was alive when he left.
The crime is delated to domestic violence so the Anchorage Police Department will not publicly release the victim’s identity. According to the department, next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
On October 18, 2025, Gaskins was remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex in Anchorage on a charge of tampering with physical evidence related to the case. On October 23, 2025, he was additionally charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder.
