CNA, the flagship international news network under Mediacorp, has doubled its global footprint to reach more than 180 million homes and connected devices worldwide. The growth stems from a two-year international strategy bringing its Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channel, CNA Originals, to audiences across North America and Europe.

Headquartered in Singapore, CNA maintains a global network of roughly 50 correspondents, with 35 stationed in major Asian cities. Since 2013, the brand has earned more than 650 international accolades, including honors from the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, and the International Emmy Awards.

Viewers in key Western markets—including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and the Nordics—can now stream CNA’s long-form documentaries, current affairs series, and flagship news bulletins like Asia Tonight and East Asia Tonight. The channel is available across major platforms, including Rakuten TV, Freeview, Distro TV, VIDAA, Whale TV+, Airtime, Amasian, Bolt+, and Serially.

Showcase in Berlin champions the Asian Perspective

To celebrate its European milestone following earlier launches in Washington D.C., USA and London, England, U.K., CNA held a two-day brand showcase in Berlin, Germany on March 6–7, 2026.

The expansion comes as interest in Asian affairs continues to climb throughout Europe. Notably, Germany has emerged as one of CNA’s top 10 YouTube markets, generating half a billion views on the platform over the past year alone.

The Berlin event kicked off with an exclusive gathering of roughly 250 diplomats, policymakers, academics, and business executives hosted by CNA presenter Otelli Edwards. The evening featured screenings and panel sessions led by senior network journalists:

  • Asia-Pacific Coverage: Senior Correspondent Lim Yun Suk (Seoul) and Correspondent Saksith Saiyasombut (Bangkok) discussed the nuances of daily reporting across the region.
  • Current Affairs: Executive Producer Daniel Heng shared insights into the making of CNA’s award-winning series “Insight”.
  • Special Documentaries: Senior Producer Shahul Hameed broke down the investigative documentary “The Nuclear Option”.

The celebrations continued the following day with a public event at the Mall of Berlin. Drawing nearly 3,000 attendees, the gathering blended documentary screenings with interactive activities like fan painting, photo booths, and live performances.

Expanding on-the-ground Asian journalism

According to CNA editor-in-chief Walter Fernandez, the network remains committed to deep, contextual reporting on Asian affairs—even as many global news organizations scale back their foreign bureaus.

“We strive to help global audiences ‘Understand Asia.’ This requires providing them with more than just data points — it requires depth, context, analysis, nuance, and cultural fluency,” Fernandez said. “At a time when major newsrooms around the world are cutting back on international coverage, CNA continues to invest in correspondents and bureaus. Being Asian and on the ground, our correspondents deliver reports that offer a far deeper understanding than what meets the eye.”
