Miss Eco International, founded by Dr. Amal Rezk and the United Nations' LTCP project, began as Miss Eco Queen in 2015 and became Miss Eco Universe in 2016. The 2017 pageant held in Egypt featured 56 contestants, with Amber Lynn Bernachi of Canada as the winner and Natalia Carvajal of Costa Rica as her predecessor.
