Brian Robert "B.T." Thompson, an accomplished American CPA and businessman, served as CEO of UnitedHealthcare (UHC). Born in Ames, Iowa, he had a distinguished educational background and held various leadership roles within UHC and UnitedHealth Group. Tragically, he was fatally shot during an investor conference in New York City on December 4, 2024.
Katherine Connors crowns Miss Iowa USA 2011 Rebecca Goldsmith in Ames
Katherine Anna "Katie" Connors, from Bettendorf, Iowa, won Miss Iowa USA 2010 but did not place at Miss USA 2010. After a playful exchange with MLB pitcher Miguel Batista, she threw a ceremonial pitch at a Nationals game. Connors later crowned Rebecca Goldsmith as Miss Iowa USA 2011.

Chelsea Gauger crowns Miss Iowa USA 2010 Katherine Connors in Ames
Chelsea Lynn Gauger was crowned Miss Iowa USA 2009 on November 23, 2008, shortly after her mother's death from skin cancer. She competed in Miss USA 2009 but remained unplaced. Later, she crowned Katherine Connors as Miss Iowa USA 2010, who advanced to compete in Miss USA 2010.
