Tarja Halonen has been Finland's president since March 1, 2000. In 2006, Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest with "Hard Rock Hallelujah" by the rock band Lordi, marking its first victory. The competition took place in Athens, featuring 37 entries and was directed by Volker Weicker.
