The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) was established in 1989 and replaced by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in 2019. Basilan province has two cities and several municipalities. The 2025 elections resulted in Mujiv Sabbihi Hataman as governor and Hadjiman Saliman as vice governor, with significant votes for both officials and congressional members.

Basilan, Philippines consists of two cities and 11 municipalities. Hadjiman Sabbihi "Jim" Hataman has been governor since 2016, while his brother, Mujiv, has served as congressman since 2019. The province held elections on May 9, 2022. Isabela, separate from BARMM, is part of the Zamboanga Peninsula region.
