John David McAfee was born on a U.S. Army base in Cinderford, Gloucestershire, England to an American father and a British mother and raised in Salem, Virginia. On June 23, 2021, he was found dead due to an apparent suicide by hanging in a prison cell in Barcelona, Spain.
