Zhuo Ling is a Chinese model and the first Miss Universe China, born in 1983 in Shanghai. She learned English in her teens, became Miss China 2002 amid governmental disapproval of beauty pageants, and was a runner-up at Miss Universe 2002. She faced legal issues over contract violations post-competition.
