Jimmy Carter, born in Plains, Georgia, was the 39th U.S. president and served from 1977 to 1981. He was the eldest of four children and had a notable career as a Georgia State senator and governor. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, he entered hospice care in February 2023 and passed away in December 2024.
