Ireland’s Pádraig Harrington wins 2008 British Open in Southport, England

Pádraig Harrington, from Dublin, Ireland, won the 136th Open Championship in 2007 and the 137th in 2008, becoming the first golfer to win back-to-back titles since 1995. He earned £750,000 for his 2008 victory, with Ian Poulter as runner-up. Harrington debuted professionally in 1995 and married in 1997.
