Peter Francis Welch is a Vermont lawyer and politician, born in Springfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from Holy Cross College and UC Berkeley School of Law. Welch served in the Vermont Senate and U.S. House of Representatives. In 2023, he became a U.S. senator. He has been married twice and has eight stepchildren.

Robert Genst, 22, was arrested for allegedly chasing a family member with a gun outside a Colchester daycare on April 7, 2025, facing multiple charges including aggravated domestic assault. Kenneth Glennon, 20, was arrested for luring a 13-year-old and possessing child sex abuse material. Both are scheduled for court appearances.

Body of Essex Junction, Vermont’s John Gaye found in Winooski River
John Gaye, 45, from Essex Junction, Vermont, was reported missing on December 18, 2024, after his car was found near Waterbury. Search efforts concluded without locating him until his body was found in the Winooski River on April 9, 2025. His death is not considered suspicious, and the cause is undetermined.
