Rayner Ramon Miyar, 37, of Hialeah, Florida, United States previously lived in West Hills, California, USA. On April 20, 2012, he met in Miami Beach, Florida a woman, then 38, who was staying at The Hotel Astor on Washington Avenue in Miami Beach.
Miyar allegedly asked the woman if she wanted to participate in the April 20th National Smoke Out Day and offered her marijuana, which she rejected. At 2:15 p.m., while she walked towards her hotel for a pre-scheduled conference call with her co-workers, she was confronted by him.

After grabbing the woman by the wrists, Miyar allegedly pushing her against a black gate, forcefully turned her around, held both arms against the wall and removed her bathing suit bottom. For about 5 minutes, he allegedly performed anal sex without her consent.
After the assault, Miyar fled on foot. The woman gave a statement to the police that day but the suspect was not arrested.
On November 5, 2021, the woman was interviewed again by police. She gave the same statement she gave the day she was sexually assaulted by Miyar.
On August 31, 2022, Miyar was arrested and charged with sexual battery and false imprisonment. He was taken into custody at the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail Bureau in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he was being held without bond.
