Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Punsawad Woods is the champion of the 135th edition of The Open Championship. This is the third time he won the golf tournament also known as the British Open.

The purse was £4,000,000. As the 2006 British Open winner, Woods received £720,000.

Runner-up to Woods was Chris DiMarco, who received £430,000. Third placer Ernie Els won £275,000 and fourth placer Jim Furyk was given £210,000.

Sergio Garcia and Hideto Tanihara tied for fifth. They each won £159,500.

Tiger Woods

Woods has been playing golf professionally since 1996. He was born in Cypress, California, United States to Earl Dennison Woods and Kultida “Tida” Punsawad Woods.

Born in Manhattan, Kansas, USA, Earl was an U.S. Army infantry officer. He turned 74 on March 5, 2006 and died from a heart attack at his residence in Cypress on May 3, 2006.

On April 10, 2005, Tiger won the 69th edition of the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, USA and received $1,260,000. On December 30, 2005, he turned 30.

When Tiger won the 2000 British Open, he received £500,000. As the 2005 British Open winner, he won £720,000.
