Born in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, Jordin Sparks turned 17 on December 22, 2006. Five months later, she won the sixth season of “American Idol“.
Sparks is former National Football League player Philippi Sparks and Jodi Wiedmann Sparks‘ daughter. Jordin has a younger brother named Philippi “PJ” Sparks Jr.
Philippi Sr. is African-American while Jodi is of English, German, Norwegian and Scottish descent. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA, he attended Maryvale High School in Phoenix and Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona where he played football.
From 1992 to 1999, Philippi Sr. was a New York Giants player. In 2000, he played for the Dallas Cowboys.
While Philippi Sr. played as a defensive back for the New York Giants, Jordin grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey, USA. She attended Northwest Community Christian High School in Phoenix.
