Born and raised in Manacor, Mallorca, Spain, Rafael Nadal Parera is Sebastián Nadal Homar and Ana María Parera Femenías‘s son. Sebastian is an entrepreneur who owns a glass and window company, an insurance company and a restaurant.
Ana Maria owned a perfume shop. She gave it up after giving birth to Rafael and his younger sister Maria Isabel Nadal Parera.
In 1992, Rafael won an under-12 regional tennis championship. In 2001, he made his professional tennis debut.
On June 3, 2010, Rafael turned 24. On June 6, 2010, he won the men’s singles of the 114th edition of the French Open.
This is the fifth time Rafael won the French Open men’s singles. He also won in 2005, in 2006, in 2007 and in 2008.
On July 6, 2008, Rafael won the 2008 Wimbledon Championships men’s singles in Wimbledon, London, England, United Kingdom. On February 1, 2009, he won the 2009 Australian Open men’s singles in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Runner-up to Rafael at the 2010 French Open was Robin Söderling of Sweden. The champion is 6’1″ tall and the runner-up is 6’4″ tall.
Born in Tibro, Sweden, Söderling turned 25 on August 14, 2009. He is currently based in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
