Representing Sweden, “Euphoria” was the winner of the 57th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The semifinal rounds of the competition were held on May 22, 2012 and May 24, 2012 and the winner was announced on May 26, 2012.

Including “Euphoria”, a total of 42 entries participated in the competition. Adil Kerimli executive produced the contest, which was broadcast by İctimai Television (İTV).

Thomas Gustafsson, who is professionally as Thomas G:son, and Peter Boström wrote “Euphoria”. The song was performed by Swedish singer and songwriter Loreen, who was born Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui in Åkersberga, Sweden to Moroccan parents.

Loreen

Raised in Västerås, Sweden, Loreen was one of the 40 contestants of “Idol 2004”, which aired on TV4 from August 2004 to November 26, 2004. She finished fourth after being voted off on November 12, 2004.

In 2005, Loreen released the song “The Snake” with Robert Wåtz and Rasmus Lindwall, who are collectively known as Rob’n’Raz. In the same year, she presented the TV400 show “Lyssna”.

On October 16, 2011, Loreen turned 28. On March 10, 2012, her song “Euphoria” won Melodifestivalen 2012, which is the 19th edition of the national competition that selects Sweden’s Eurovision Song Contest entry.
