10 Conor McGregor, Floyd Mayweather Jr. films, TV shows, documentaries

Fans of boxing and mixed martial arts were surprised by the confirmation of the much-awaited bout between undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., 40, and the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, 28. The two will battle it out in a boxing match on Aug. 26 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather and McGregor are two of the top fighters fans would love to see both on the big screen and the small screen. Here are 10 previous and upcoming films, TV shows and documentaries featuring either of the two fighters:

1. “More Than Famous”

Released in 2003, this documentary featured Salvadoran-American boxer Carlos “Famoso” Hernández’s fights in 2001 against Mayweather and Juan Angel Macias. It was produced and directed by Graham Rich.

2. “Dancing with the Stars”

In 2007, Mayweather competed in “DWTS” Season 5. He and her partner Ukrainian-American professional ballroom dancer Karina Smirnoff finished in ninth place.

3. “30 Days in May”

On April 3, 2013, Showtime aired this documentary about the start of Mayweather’s jail term in Las Vegas and his victory over Puerto Rican fighter Miguel Cotto. Also featured in the film were Justin Bieber, Drake and Lil Wayne.

4. “Barbaric Gentlemen”

This MMA documentary by Gary Culleton was released in Ireland on Dec. 5, 2013. It featured McGregor, John Connor, Aisling Daly, Jerry Flannery and John Kavanagh, among others.

5. “Think Like a Man Too”

In 2014, Mayweather appeared as himself in this romantic comedy film directed by Tim Story. The film starred Adam Brody, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Terrence Jenkins and Taraji P. Henson.

6. “Chasing Billions: Broner vs Theopane”

Spike aired this TV movie featuring Adrien Broner and Ashley Theophane on March 25, 2016. Mayweather appeared in it as himself.

7. “The 13th Jockey”

In this series of comedic shorts about the Pegasus World Cup, McGregor played the title character with Jon Lovitz as the trainer. The episodes of the series directed by Frank Coraci aired on NBC in January.

8. “Game of Thrones”

HBO is bringing back its hit series “Game of Thrones” on July 16. The first episode of the seventh season of the series will feature McGregor.

9. “When Love Kills: The Falicia Blakely Story”

Mayweather will play Punch in this upcoming TV movie set to air on Sept. 4 on TV One. Directed by Tasha Smith, the drama film inspired by true events stars Lil Mama, Lance Gross and Tami Roman.

10. “All-Star Weekend”

Written and directed by Jamie Foxx, this upcoming comedy film is about two friends’ rivalry over their favorite American basketball player. Playing a character named Tanner, Mayweather joins Foxx, Jessica Szohr, Eva Longoria, Jeremy Piven, Corinne Foxx and Jasmie Waltz in the cast.
