South Carolina, United States currently has 28 Miss America placements including the coronations of Marian McKnight in 1957 and Kimberly Clarice Aiken in 1994. The most recent one was in the 2017 edition when Rachel Wyatt was the first runner-up.
Wyatt was 21 years old when she was crowned Miss South Carolina 2016 on June 25, 2016. On September 11, 2016, she represented South Carolina at Miss America 2017.
Wyatt competed against 50 other candidates at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA. She was runner-up to Arkansas’s Savvy Shields.

On June 24, 2017, Wyatt will crown her successor at The Township Auditorium in Columbia, South Carolina. It is the 83rd edition of state-level beauty pageant that selects South Carolina’s Miss America candidate.
