Jeff Horn beats Manny Pacquiao; Australian boxer is new WBO welterweight champion, remains undefeated

Australian boxer Jeff Horn entered the ring in his hometown on July 2, Sunday, as an undefeated fighter. After 12 rounds of fight against Manny Pacquiao, the Australian boxer remains undefeated with a professional record of 17 wins, 0 loss and 1 draw and the WBO welterweight champion title.

Titled “Battle of Brisbane,” the fight between Horn and Pacquiao took place at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia. It was attended by almost 60,000 spectators.

The Australian fighter’s win was via unanimous decision. The three judges scored the match 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113 in favor of Horn.

“Battle of Brisbane” was Pacquiao’s first non-pay-per-view fight since September 2005. The fight was broadcast live on ESPN in the evening of July 1, Saturday, in the United States.

After losing to Horn, Pacquiao’s record now is 59 wins, 7  losses and 2 draws. The fighters who defeated the Filipino boxer prior to Horn were Rustico Torrecampo, Medgoen Singsurat, Erik Morales, Timothy Bradley Jr., Juan Manuel Marquez and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
