‘Descendants of the Sun’ star Song Joong Ki is manly: ‘Battleship Island’ star So Ji Sub

So Ji Sub is one of the co-stars of Song Joong Ki in the film “The Battleship Island.” In a recent interview, the former gave a description of the latter, who is set to get married to his “Descendants of the Sun” co-star Song Hye Kyo.

Joong Ki is a manly man without any pretense, So told Nate News. Including the two actors, the main cast of “The Battleship Island” consists of Hwang Jung Min and Lee Jung Hyun.

So told the publication that he learned a lot while working with Hwang. The former described the acting of the latter as passionate.

In “The Battleship Island,” So played Choi Chil Sung, the best street fighter in Gyeongseong who constantly stirs up troubles in the labor camp on Hashima Island. He is a harsh man with a good heart.

On the other hand, Joong Ki played a Korean independence movement member named Park Moo Young. The character infiltrates the island where his fellow independence fighter is being held captive.

Hwang played Lee Kang Ok, a bandmaster at a hotel in Gyeongseong. Lee’s character is a comfort woman named Oh Mal Nyeon.

Released on Aug. 17, “The Battleship Island” was written and directed by Ryoo Seung Wan. It also starred Kim Su An, Lee Geung Young, Lee Jung Eun, Yoon Kyung Ho, Bae Seung Cheol, Jang Sung Bum, Kim Ye Eun and Bae Je Gi.

There are still no details about Joong Ki’s next project after “The Battleship Island.” Many of his fans are hoping to see him again on the small screen with Hye Kyo.

However, it appears that Joong Ki himself is not looking forward to co-starring with his soon-to-be wife. On Aug. 8, the actor attended a press conference for “The Battleship Island” and talked about acting again with Hye Kyo.

For Joong Ki, working with Hye Kyo in the future was something that he would have to give a little more consideration about, 8 Days quoted the former as saying. For him, it would be challenging because it is work and it may be a little tough to be on the same production with his former “Descendants of the Sun” co-star.

Joong Ki and Hye Kyo are getting married on Oct. 31. Their respective agencies Blossom Entertainment and United Artists Agency shocked the fans when they made the wedding announcement on July 5.
