Almost 17 years after “Quanctico” star Priyanka Chopra was crowned Miss World 2000 in London, England, United Kingdom, another beauty queen from India won the oldest running international beauty pageant created by the late Eric Morley. On November 18, 2017, Manushi Chhillar was crowned Miss World 2017 in Sanya, China.
Representng India, Chhillar bested 117 other Miss World 2017 contestants. She also won the Beauty with a Purpose challenge along with Miss Philippines Laura Lehmann, Miss Vietnam Do My Linh, Miss Indonesia Achintya Holte Nilsen and Miss South Africa Ade van Heerden.
Chopra took to Twitter to congratulate Chhillar. The former is the fifth Miss India to win Miss World while the latter is the sixth one.
“And we have a successor!” Chopra tweeted. Along with her congratulatory message, she gave some pieces of advice to Chhillar asking her to “cherish and learn, and most importantly enjoy it.”
Aside from winning the Miss World 2000 crown, Chopra was also named Asia’s Continental Queen of Beauty. During her reign, Indian beauty queens Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza also reigned as Miss Universe 2000 and Miss Asia Pacific 2000, respectively.
From being Miss World 2000, Chopra pursued a career as an actress in Bollywood and in Hollywood. She is set to star in a drama film titled “A Kid like Jake” opposite Claire Danes and Jim Parsons.
On the small screen, Chopra is reprising her role as Alex Parrish in “Quantico” Season 3, which will premiere on ABC in January 2018. Among her co-stars are Johanna Brady, Marlee Martin, Geoge Zouvelos, Russell Tovey, Jim Saxton, Thomas Schall, Manny Ayala, Blair Underwood and Jake McLaughlin.
“Quantico” Season 3 episode 1 titled “The Conscience Code” was written by Michael Seitzman and directed by Russell Fine. The second episode titled “Fear and Flesh” was written by Dave Kalstein and directed by Alexandra Kalymnios and the third episode titled “Hell’s Gate” was written by Tom Mularz and directed by Constantine Makris.
