Holly Brook Hafermann, 31, who is professionally known as Skylar Grey, and Marshall Bruce “Eminem” Mathers III, 45, co-wrote the song “Walk on Water.” The latter, who hails from Detroit, Michigan, United States, recorded the song with Beyonce Knowles, 36.
Released on November 10, 2017, “Walk on Water” is one of the 19 songs from Eminem’s ninth studio album “Revival,” which will be released on December 15. 2017. Also in the album is a collaboration song recorded by Eminem and Grey titled “Tragic Endings,” which they co-wrote with Miquel Sijbers.
Aside from “Walk on Water” and “Tragic Endings,” there are six other collaboration songs in “Revival.” These are “Chloraseptic” featuring Phresher, “River” featuring Ed Sheeran, “Like Home” featuring Alicia Keys, “Bad Husband” featuring X Ambassadors, “Nowhere Fast” featuring Kehlani and “Needed Me” featuring Pink. The other songs from the album are “Believe,” “Untouchable,” “Remind Me (intro),” “Remind Me,” “Revival (Interlude),” “Framed,” “Heat,” “Offended,” “In Your Head,” “Castle” and “Arose,” as Eminem announced through a tweet on December 5, 2017.
This is not the first time Grey and Eminem recorded a collaboration song. In 2013, they collaborated on the song “A—–e,” which was one of the 16 songs from Eminem’s eighth studio album titled “The Marshall Mathers LP 2.”
Released on November 5, 2013, “The Marshall Mathers LP 2” contained four collaboration songs. The other three are “The Monster” featuring Rihanna, “Love Game” featuring Kendrick Lamar and “Headlights” featuring Nate Ruess.
On September 23, 2016, Grey released her third studio album titled “Natural Causes.” The album has 13 songs including a collaboration song titled “Kill For You” featuring Eminem.
“He’s one of my favorite people I’ve ever collaborated with,” Grey said of Eminem in an interview with Billboard on the red carpet at the 2017 American Music Awards. “I got to perform ‘Stan’ with him. ‘Stan’ is like a dream come true to sing that with him. I’ve listened to that song since I was 13.”
On November 19, 2017, Grey and Eminem performed three songs on “Saturday Night Live.” With Grey providing the backup vocals, the Detroit rapper performed “Walk on Water,” “Stan” and “Love the Way You Live.”
