Representing the Philippines, Jannie Loudette Alipo-on, 25, was crowned Miss Tourism International 2017 at the Sunway Resort in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia on December 6, 2017. She bested 48 other contestants during the 20th edition of the beauty pageant run by the D’ Touch International Sdn. Bhd. Foundation.
Alipo-on inherited the crown from Miss Tourism International 2016 Ariel Pearse of New Zealand. This made the former the fourth Filipino to win the title.
The first Miss Tourism International from the Philippines was Maria Esperanza Manzano, who was crowned in Selangor in 2000 and the second one was the late Rizzini Alexis Gomes in 2012. Angeli Dione Gomez won the crown in 2013 giving the Philippines a back-to-back win.
On August 4, 2017, Alipo-on was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas-Tourism International 2017 at Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Miss Tourism International owner Tan Sri Danny Ooi was one of the judges during the coronation night.
Alipo-on is a broadcast journalist who hails from Navotas City, Metro Manila. She used to be a member of the 24K Girls of the Philippine version of “Deal of No Deal.”
In 2013, Alipo-on represented Cabugao, Ilocos Sur in Miss Philippines Earth and finished in the Top 10. In 2015, she finished in the Top 13 of Miss World Philippines.
Also in 2015, a video of Alipo-on talking about the traffic mess in Metro Manila went viral. At Miss Tourism International 2017, she also won Miss Gintell Wellness, an award from one of the sponsors.
