“#TWICE” and “The War: EXO Vol. 4” are two of the best-selling albums by K-pop groups in Japan in 2017. The former was released by Twice on June 28, 2017 while the latter was released by EXO on July 19, 2017.
On December 5, 2017, two lists of the best-selling 2017 albums of Japan’s leading CD retailer Tower Records were released. The first list was for Japanese albums released by K-pop groups while the other is for Korean albums released by K-pop groups.
In the list of Japanese albums released by K-pop groups, Twice ranked number 1 with “#Twice,” its debut Japanese album. At number 2 was “2017 S/S” by 2PM member Junho followed by “Gorilla” by Pentagon at number 3, “Taecyeon Special- Winter” by 2PM member Taecyeon at number 4, “Party Shots” by 2PM member Wooyoung at number 5, “Lalala- Thank you for your love” by VIXX at number 7, “Five” by SHINee at number 7, “It Is Still…” by Wooyoung at number 8, “Summer” by Boyfriend at number 9 and “Flamer of Love” by SHINee member Taemin at number 10.
EXO took the top spot in the list of Korean albums released by K-pop groups with “The War: EXO Vol. 4”. It is followed by “Love Yourself: Her” and “Wing: You Never Walk Alone” by BTS at numbers 2 and 3, respectively.
At number 4 was “4th Mini Album (Repackage)” by Snuper followed by “Dream Part.01: 4th Mini Album” at number 5, “1×1=1 (To Be One): M1st Mini Album” by Wanna One at number 6, “Never End: 5th Mini Album” by Boyfriend at number 7 and “Star:Dom: 6th Mini Album” by UP10TION at number 8. Twice songs “TWICEcoaster: Lane 2: Special Album” and “Signal: 4th Mini Album” are at numbers 9 and 10, respectively.
Twice has nine members namely Chaeyoung, Dahyun, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, Momo, Mina, Nayeon, Sana and Tzuyu. On the other hand, EXO is divided into two subgroups, which are the Korean group Exo-K with Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun and Suho and the Mandarin group Exo-M with Chen, Lay and Xiumin.
