It was a redemptive win for ONE Championship athlete Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige of Thailand. The Thai-Japanese mixed martial artist defeated her Filipino opponent Rome “The Rebel” Trinidad at “ONE: Warriors of the World” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on December 9, 2017.
“ONE: Warriors of the World” marked Trinidad’s professional MMA debut and ONE Championship debut. Before this, she defeated her fellow Filipino fighter Maan Havillagon in an amateur MMA bout.
Olivier Coste served as the referee of the match between Ishige and Trinidad. The two female MMA fighters kept the action focused primarily at the center of the ONE Championship cage for the majority of the bout.
Towards the end of the second round, Ishige took Trinidad’s back and brought her to the mat. The Thai-Japanese contender sunk in a bout-ending rear naked choke to force the tap.
Trinidad is Ishige’s second Filipino opponent in professional MMA. The former was submitted by the latter via rear-naked choke in the second round.
The victory improved Ishige’s professional MMA record to 3 wins and 1 loss. Trinidad is her second Filipino opponent in a professional MMA bout.
On March 11, 2017, Ishige made her ONE Championship debut. She defeated Audreylara “Ice Comet” Boniface Raphael of Malaysia via technical knockout via punches.
On May 26, 2017, Ishige submitted Nita Dea of Indonesia via rear-naked coke. On August 5, 2017, the Thai-Japanese MMA fighter was submitted via rear-naked choke by Jomary Torres of Zamboanga, Philippines at “ONE: Kings and Conquerors”.
