ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on May 18, 2018. One of the matches is a rematch between Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 19, of Singapore.
After an unsuccessful attempt to earn a third belt, Nguyen is returning to the ONE Championship cage. Reigning as the ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion, he is the promotion’s first ever two-division world champion.
At “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams”, Nguyen will defend his featherweight title from Lee. The latter is the younger brother of reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 21.
“I am pleased to announce that Martin Nguyen will face Christian Lee in defense of his ONE Featherweight World Championship title,” ONE Championship chairman and chief executive officer Chatri Sityodtong stated. “Martin has just come back from a tremendous battle with Bibiano Fernandes last March, and has made a quick turnaround to defend his featherweight title like a true world champion.”
A former Pankration World Champion, Christian began his professional career on an absolute tear, railing off five straight victories by thrilling finish. In his most recent bout, he toppled Japanese veteran Kazunori Yokota in his most recent bout, winning via second-round guillotine choke to improve his record to 9-1.
On the other hand, Nguyen is one of the most highly-regarded martial arts champions in the world. He has an impressive 10-2 professional record, which includes three submissions and seven knockouts.
The title bout between Nguyen and Christian at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” is a rematch. They first fought on August 13, 2016 at “ONE: Heroes of the World” where Nguyen submitted Christian via guillotine choke in the first round, making the Australian mixed martial artist the first and still the only opponent to defeat the Singaporean MMA fighter.
