Elliot “The Dragon” Compton of Australia and Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre, 35, of Brazil had a Muay Thai match in the lightweight division at ONE Super Series at “ONE: Heroes of Honor.” It marked the ONE Championship debut of both fighters.
“ONE: Heroes of Honor” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 20, 2018. The event also marked the debut of ONE Championship’s new five-rope ring and its new striking martial arts league called ONE Super Series.
The second ONE Super Series bout was the Muay Thai bout between Compton and Alexandre. Referee Atsushi Onari put a stop to the bout when Alexandre knocked out Compton at 2:41 of Round 2.
After losing to Alexandre, Compton holds a professional Muay Thai record of 20 wins, 9 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Alejandre has a professional kickboxing record of 50 wins, 15 losses and 1 draw and a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 1 loss.
ONE Super Series was not the only thing that was launched at “ONE: Heroes of Honor.” The event also marked the first time all MMA bouts of ONE Championship took place in a five-rope ring instead of a cage.
In the main event of the ONE Super Series card, Giorgio Petrosyan, an Armenian kickboxer based in Italy, competed against Thai Muay Thai star “Smokin” Jo Nattawut of Thailand in a kickboxing bout in the 76 kg division. It ended with the judges’ unanimous decision in favor of the Armenian-Italian kickboxer.
Meanwhile, in the main event of the MMA card, Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the Philippines battled it out with Andrew Leone of the United States in the bantamweight division. The Filipino fighter knocked out his American opponent at 1:27 of Round 2.
