An attorney is currently under fire after being caught on video berating employees and customers for speaking Spanish in a restaurant in New York City. It turns out that this is not the first time the attorney was documented committing racist acts.
A George Washington University graduate, Aaron Schlossberg, 44, is an attorney registered with New York State, Office of Court Administration. He was admitted in 2003 and his office was located at 275 Madison Ave FL 14, New York, New York.
However, Schlossberg was kicked out of the Madison Avenue work space after a video of his racist rant went viral. Corporate Suites president Hayim Grant told the New York Post that the attorney’s actions are “just not consistent” with their community and rules and regulations.
In October 2016, Schlossberg encountered Willie Morris, a consultant and adviser for tech companies. Morris was walking down the street on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue when Schlossberg confronted him.
Schlossberg referred to Morris an “ugly f—-ing foreigner.” Unbeknownst to the former, the latter was born in Massachusetts.
Digital media organization A Plus lead editor Isaac Saul also encountered Schlossberg at a protest on May 25, 2017. On that day, American Muslim political activist Linda Sarsour was speaking at a City of University New York graduation ceremony and there was a protest against her just outside Saul’s office in Midtown Manhattan.
The protest was also attended by Haredi Jews counterprotesting in support of Sarsour’s speech. Yelling at the counterprotesters, Schlossberg said, “You are not a Jew! Yeah, I’m Jewish. I’ve been to Israel twice.”
Both Morris and Saul were surprised when they saw Schlossberg in a video that recently went viral. Posted by Edward Suazo, the video shows an incident that took place on May 15, 2018 at a Fresh Kitchen in Manhattan.
Holding a white iPhone and wearing a white collared shirt, Schlossberg confronted employees and customers in the restaurant. According to Suazo, his wife and her friend were the target of the attorney’s anger.
“Your staff is speaking Spanish to customers when they should be speaking English,” Schlossberg says in the video. Pointing at the Spanish speakers, he adds, “Every person I listen to: He spoke it, he spoke it, she’s speaking it. This is America!”
“My guess is they’re not documented so my next call is to ICE to have each one of them kicked out of my country,” Shlossberg says referring to United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “If they have the balls to come here and live off my money, I pay for their welfare. I pay for their ability to be here. The least they can do is speak English.”
The viral video reached New York Congressman Adriano Espaillat and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. The two filed their complaint against Schlossberg to the New York State Unified Court System’s Departmental Disciplinary Committee asking for the investigation of the attorney in question and possible revocation of his license.
Espaillat told CNN that he and Diaz sought to have Schlossberg’s law license suspended until he “amends his actions.” The Congressman said that the attorney “clearly has done that, and his behavior, his rant was xenophobic and racist.”
