On May 18, 2018, ONE Championship was in its home country Singapore for “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams,” which featured both mixed martial arts and ONE Super Series bouts. The fifth bout of the evening was an MMA bout between former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of the Philippines and ONE Championship debutante Kharun “Predator” Atlangeriev of Russia.
After three five-minute rounds, the lightweight bout between Folayang and Atlangeriev was left in the hands of the judges. Referee Olivier Coste raised the hand of Folayang as the winner via unanimous decision.
It was reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera who presented the medal to his fellow Filipino fighter. Both Vera and Folayang are Global Citizen ambassadors.
Before Atlangeriev, the ONE Championship opponents defeated by Folayang were A-Sol Kwon, Felipe Enomoto, Vincent Latoel, Koketsu Boku, Tetsuya Yamada, Adrian Pang, Shinya Aoki and Ev Ting. On November 10, 2017, Folayang lost the ONE Lightweight World Champion belt to Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen of Australia and Vietnam, which made the latter the ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion.
Nguyen defended his featherweight belt at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams,” which took place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Kallang, Singapore. It was one of the two co-main events of the evening.
Three belts were at stake at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams.” In the first co-main event, Nguyen successfully defended his ONE Featherweight World Champion title from Christian “The Warrior” Lee of Singapore by winning via split decision.
In the second co-main event, Sam-a Gaiyanghadao of Thailand and Sergio Wielzen of the Netherlands competed for the inaugural ONE Super Series Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship. The Thai martial arts veteran won via knockout in the second round.
In the main event, Angela “Unstoppable” Lee of Singapore defended her ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion title from Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi of Japan in a rematch. The Singaporean champion kept the title and her undefeated record by defeating her Japanese challenger via unanimous decision.
