2011 Jr. NBA All-Star Thirdy Ravena engaged the National Training Camp participants of the Jr. NBA Philippines 2018 presented by Alaska on their first training day. The participants trained with NBA player Willie Cauley-Stein of the Sacramento Kings.
Cauley-Stein has been playing for the Sacramento Kings since 2015. Like him, WNBA Hall of Famer and 3-time MVP Sheryl Swoopes is also in Manila for the Jr. NBA Philippines program.
The global youth basketball participation program of the NBA for boys and girls teaches fundamental skills and the core values of sportsmanship, teamwork, a positive attitude and respect. Now, Jr. NBA is now in the process of selecting the newest All-Stars of Jr. NBA Philippines 2018 presented by Alaska.
The top eight boys and eight girls will be announced at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Metro Manila on May 20, 2018. Kiefer Ravena, Kobe Paras, Ricci Rivero, Kib Montalbo, Kai Sotto and Aljon Mariano are also previous All-Stars.
Currently, Thirdy is playing for the Ateneo Blue Eagles as a varsity basketball player while his sister Dani Ravena is a varsity volleyball player playing for the Ateneo Lady Eagles. Their eldest brother, Kiefer, graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with Bachelor of Science in Communications Technology Management degree in June 2016.
Since 2017, Kiefer has been playing for the NLEX Road Warriors of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was named after Kiefer Sutherland, who plays President Thomas Kirkman in the ABC series “Designated Survivor.”
